Build a Home for your Loved Ones
An accessory dwelling unit or ADU—sometimes called a guest house, in-law unit, backyard house, granny flat, casita or carriage house—is essentially a smaller home beside or within an existing primary home.
There are many different styles and names of accessory dwelling units. ADUs are standalone structures that contain a sleeping area, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Depending on your needs and preferences, your ADU can be built inside your house, attached to your house, or separately within your lot.
