About Me

A lot of the projects I work on start at the kitchen table. Someone has been thinking about a new kitchen for two years. Another family already has plans for an addition but needs to figure out how to actually build it. Sometimes homeowners know exactly what bothers them about the house but aren't sure what the solution should be yet. That's usually where I come in.

I meet with homeowners, walk through the space with them, listen to what they want to change, and start putting the pieces together. Depending on the project, that can mean sketching out an initial plan, talking through different ways to use the space, building out the scope, preparing a detailed proposal, or helping them figure out where to go for materials and selections.

One homeowner described our first meeting this way: “He took his time, drew up plans, and gave us awesome suggestions.” That's pretty close to how I like these meetings to work. I don't want someone to feel rushed into a construction contract before we've figured out what they're actually trying to accomplish.

I've worked with New Day clients on straightforward kitchen remodels and on projects that grew much larger. One project Peter and I started with a homeowner in October 2022 included a kitchen remodel and addition, then expanded to flooring, a deck, roofing, siding, exterior work, concrete, and a bathroom. The kitchen was ultimately completed one week ahead of schedule. On another whole-home remodel involving the kitchen, bathrooms, moved walls, lighting, and other updates, I prepared the project proposal, helped direct the homeowners to material suppliers, and continued working with them as they made changes during construction.

That's the part of remodeling I enjoy most: taking something that starts as “we know we need to change this” and helping turn it into a project everyone can actually understand and build.
